Hiking in the Rauris Valley
With its five side valleys, all with unique features, the 30-km long Rauris Valley is one of the most beautiful, multi-faceted, and the largest hiking regions in the Hohe Tauern Nationalpark. Over 295 kilometres of well-marked hiking trails & via ferrate, at varying levels of difficulty, await to be conquered by you & your hiking partners.
Approximately 30 farmed alpine pastures, with charming chalets, traditional "Almen", can be discovered along the hiking trails here. Take a rest, refresh with a cool drink and indulge in well-deserved traditional delicacies offered by the welcoming owners in the Hohe Tauern Nationalpark.
A Glimpse of Rauris Forest
Named one of the 33 best educational nature trails in Austria, the path through Rauris’ untouched nature offers a wide variety of new experiences. The pristine mountain forest is home to a diverse, rich and largely protected variety of animals with over 80 marshes, unique plant species, century-old spruces, and mighty pines.
Hochalm Adventure Mountain
Take the environmentally friendly Hochalm lifts to easily ascend to 1,800 metres above sea level. Enjoy breath-taking views of the Goldberg Group mountain range, Großglockner Mountain, the Niederen Tauern range, Steinerne Meer Mountains, Hochkönig Mountain, and the Dachstein Mountain. Various family-friendly hiking trails lead into the diverse alpine landscape. One trail, Tilly's forest trail, is one of the favourites with its stunningly beautiful setting amidst nature.
